Our history

From a courier van to nine branches across Scotland, still run by the same family.

1994

A courier service

Matthew's Foods began as a courier service, a husband-and-wife team delivering catering products to restaurants and takeaways across Scotland.

1997

First store — Glasgow

Our first store opened in Glasgow, trading in both retail and wholesale goods.

2001

Dundee

A second store, built for a smaller city and focused more on retail to stay viable.

2005

Aberdeen

A third store, serving the North East with the same retail-focused model.

2009

Edinburgh

A fourth store, on Inglis Green Road — expansion into four of Scotland's major cities.

2021

Kirkcaldy

A fifth store, and a large one: a wide range of both retail and wholesale goods under one roof.

2022

Inverness

Our first branch in the north of Scotland, serving both catering and retail customers.

2023

Edinburgh — Earl Grey Street

A second Edinburgh branch, and our first store built purely for retail customers.

2025

Kilmarnock

An eighth store in Ayrshire, following the same retail-focused model.

2025

Glasgow — Sauchiehall Street

A ninth branch, right in Glasgow city centre.

Over thirty years since two people started out with a courier van, we're still the same family business. Nine branches from Glasgow to Inverness, serving home cooks, restaurants and takeaways the way we always have.
